MINDSCAPE

Born in Assam, India, he graduated from the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata in 1983 with Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. He worked at Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal as a print maker for five years.

He mainly works with Oil and Acrylic. His paintings have similarities with poems, which goes on to describe mysterious and dormant landscapes and environment. His artworks have references towards the representational world, but as he proceeds in his paintings, they subsequently transform into representational. And frequently, fragments from figurative world make appearances into his works. He has a subtle nuance in each of his work as it is set up around the colours and shapes, which starts to communicate with each other. As his painting gradually grows, he becomes more involved and engrossed within its colours and narration, and suddenly he gives up completely, and that’s the underlying charm found in his works.

His artworks form part of the collection of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Lalit Kala Akademi, Odisha; Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata; Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal; Tourism Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. His paintings are also part of many private collections, both nationally and internationally.
