ANUP GIRI

Born : 12th January, 1960

Born in the Midnapur district of West Bengal, India, he graduated from the prestigious Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Calcutta in Fine Arts in 1982, having done his specialization in Reservation of Paintings from Dresden in 1992.

He is also specialized in portraying the socio-cultural lives of the weaker sections of Indian population, especially relevant towards the tribal community living in the desolated, isolated and remote areas in Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and people residing in the hilly areas of the Eastern Himalayan ranges of the country.

His artworks are collected by many private art connoisseurs all round the world.

(iii) He participated in many art-camps: 1985 – Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Government of India; 1989 – Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India; 1991 – ‘Tribal Arts and Crafts’, Tinmurti Bhawan, New Delhi, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India; 1994 – Rashtriya Kala Mela, Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata, organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Government of India; 1997 – National Kala Mela, New Delhi, organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, Government of India.

Awards & Honours

1980 – ‘Certificate of Merit’ at the Annual Exhibition of the Indian College of Arts and Draftsmanship, Kolkata.
