ALOKE SARDAR

Born : 10th December, 1959

Born in Kolkata, West Bengal; he is a self-taught full-time painter.

According to him, “My work is my innermost desire, screaming my heart out in every inch of my canvas.”. Every stroke of his brush, every drop of the inks he applies is related to him, sometimes his emotions are bathed in colours, and sometimes his feelings are gliding and flying in the art, where he worships the divine power of limitless passion.

He says, “My spiritual rendezvous with Goddess Kali and God Jagannath, holiness of Ganga, my romanticism, excitement, happiness, agony – every minute or mammoth feelings, come alive in my work reminding myself who I am in spirit and that is what makes me, an artist.”. His versatility ranges from miniature to massive, both on canvas and paper, using acrylic, mixed media and charcoal.

His artworks are part of the collection of the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata; and many private collectors from Pune, Mumbai, France, Russia, Belgium, Italy and the USA.
