MANOJ MITRA

Born : 25th February, 1953

Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, he is a veteran Bengal artist, fascinated by paintings since childhood, he used to sketch or draw and paint them with brushes. He graduated from the prestigious Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta in the year 1977.

Since childhood, he was compelled to express his inner sense of urgency through his artworks. His paintings on canvases portray beautiful women adorned with nature’s elements reflecting the beauty of nature, signifying two varied types of beauty and elegance existing together, in a frame and the environment, both.

He is a member of the ‘Society of Contemporary Artists’, Kolkata from the year 1984.

His paintings form part of the collections of the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi; Glenbarra Art Musuem, Japan.

Exhibition

He participated in several major exhibitions in Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi.

  2. 1977 – ‘Academy of Fine Arts Award’.
  3. 1974 – ‘Certificate of Merit’, from the Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta.
