Hailing from Habra, West Bengal, Babu Paul was born in 1987. He completed his B.F.A from Govt. College of Art & Craft and M.F.A from University of Burdwaman.

As a boy he was obsessed with the simplicity of the village life. He observed various activities around him with a sole purpose to paint the vibrancy of rural India. He has gained a profound knowledge of light and shadow, which we can see in his art works.
