SAGAR BHOWMICK

Born :

Sagar Bhowmick completed his graduation from the prestigious Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, Calcutta, in 1998, with a Gold Medal in Bachelor’s in Visual Arts and completed his Master’s in Visual Arts from the prestigious Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta in 2001.

He is a modern master of realism. He is adept in incredibly depicting childhood joys to obsessively detailed analysis of contemporary lives, which excessively provokes the viewers’ mind through the content of his artworks, which works as metaphor for contemporary issues, and experiences. His depiction of flora and fauna in contemporary art is a rare and unusual practice. The application of psychedelic colours and industrial forms in his works signifies the vulnerability of the nature and humankinds’ abhorrent potentiality to destroy the nature’s beauty.
