Born and brought up in Kolkata, he did his Diplome in Fine Arts from the prestigious Government College of Art and Craft, University of Calcutta. Afterwards, he went on to pursue his Master’s degree from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan.

He received a Scholarship to live and study in Japan from the Japanese Government, before coming back to Kolkata to teach at his own alma mater, the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata.

He also won a National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, where he gained opportunity to further nurture his interest in graphic art and enrich his prowess at graphic art, which helped him to receive several accolades and awards, both nationally and internationally. He also received recognitions and prestigious awards from the Government of Taiwan and the Government of Norway.
